Sodium citrate is used primarily as a food additive, usually as a flavoring or as a preservative. It has an E number of E331. Sodium citrate is used as a flavoring agent in many carbonated drinks. Sodium citrate is also a part of the sausage, and is also used in ready-to-drink beverages and drink mixes, which play a sour taste. It is found in ice cream, confectionery, milk powder, processed cheese, carbonated drinks and alcohol.
