Today, June 1st, Forbes Vietnam announces the “List of 50 Best Listed Companies” in 2020. This is the eighth time that Forbes Vietnam has made this list in the context of Vietnam’s economy and the world heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The list of 2020 marks the rise of defensive or less affected stocks such as pharmaceuticals, construction, consumer goods, materials, and finance, etc. The companies on the list of 2020 have a solid foundation, not only have good business results in 2019, but also expect resilience in the context of Vietnam’s economy facing the most challenges in the past 10 years.

Forbes Vietnam’s list of the 50 best eighth companies recorded new records. The total profit after tax of the listed companies reached VND 138,705 billion, increase of 8.7% compared to the list announced in 2019, the highest ever.

This year’s list recorded nine changes, including Duc Giang Chemicals Group Joint Stock Company. This is the pride of Duc Giang Chemicals when it comes back from the current trend of the country during the current pandemic.

Calculation method:

Forbes Vietnam looks at all the stocks listed on the HSX and HNX and sorted by industry group. In the preliminary round, companies that are losing money, or in the delisting process, have capitalization scale and revenue of less than VND 500 billion, subsidiaries whose operations depend on the parent company (which has been reviewed) do not enter the next round.

In the quantitative calculation, companies are scored according to the following criteria: the compound growth rate of sales, profits, profitability ratios ROE, ROC and EPS growth period 2015 – 2019. Quantitative calculation by Forbes method is supported by Ban Viet Securities Company (VCSC).

Next, in the qualitative round, Forbes Vietnam independently considered the level of sustainable development of enterprises: brand, quality of corporate governance, origin of past profits and prospects of sustainable development. Companies that repeatedly violate the disclosure obligations of two stock exchanges, suspected of manipulating stock prices, are less transparent, and will be excluded.
